Subjects to Consider:
Our Mission: Bent Wit Cabaret is meant to be a political, satirical, playful, striking, adult, no-holes-barred event. It changes month to month (cast and theme), and we are bringing you on board because you are an artist who inspires us and whom we love to watch. Please do work that you love to do and please also keep us as up to date as possible about what that work is shaping up to be. We have a brilliant and energetic design and tech crew on board to help your vision hit the stage with finesse, and a House Band extraordinaire to support your act as needed. Use them!
Our Theme: Each Bent Wit Cabaret has a theme, this month is APOCALYPSE. We ask that each performer take the time to consider their own reaction to this word and contribute a piece to our show that adds your own point of view to the exploration of that theme... We have asked you to do a certain type of performance, but we look to you to bring a quality, fresh, and individual statement to the stage of your own as well.
Our Tech/Design Team: USE THEM! They are not here only as crew, but as a design team that will help your slice of the overall event fit smoothly and appropriately into the entire night. If you have specific technical needs please fill out your tech sheet as soon as possible, and if you don't - still please fill out your tech sheet as soon as possible. Let them know your ideal situation, and they will try to find a way to make it happen - or figure out what the limits of this space can bring forth as close as possible.
Lighting Designer: Rick Frank
Sound Designer: Adam Howarth
Technical Director/Stage Manager: Aaron Cohen
Our Band: Is a backbone and through-line to this show. They are also onstage the entire night (Stage Right Cabaret Section). If you are interested in collaborating with them they need as much time as possible to work with you and prepare themselves as possible. They will not always be available to help (depending on each show's circumstances), but if you have a clear idea of how you would like to use them in your set - from back-up music, live interjections, to entrance theme music, etc. please feel free to ask. Contact Karin at: [email protected] for an introduction (and if you already know the band, please let Karin know that this is something you are going forward with).
Ad Sales: Axe To Ice helps offset production costs by offering ad space in our playbill for a very low price. If you know anyone who would be a great match for our crowd, please drop them a line or send Karin and Jill their contact info. More information is available on the "Ads" page of this website too. We also give a 20% commission to people who bring us business in Ad Sales - please write us at: [email protected] for more information. Thanks!
Frequently Asked Questions/Subjects:
What does the Day-Of-The-Show Schedule look like? So far the schedule we have is laid out above (subject to change). We ask that everyone be PROMPT for arrival on this day and stay focused. If you need to eat during the hours between arrival and dinner break, please bring food - we will set up a coffee and tea station for you. Our Stage Manager, Duncan Jenner, is in charge on show day and should be checked in with upon your arrival both at the space at 2:15pm, and upon your return from Dinner at 7:00pm (latest). We know it's a long day for everyone, but our show's quality depends on every one of us working together to make the time we have run smoothly and effectively. Thank you!
Do we offer Comps? Depending on the size of our cast and crew for any given show our ability to give out comps is severely limited (as our venue has not enough seating available with the cabaret tables) - we prefer to pay you more money instead! If you have someone you would like to comp please email [email protected] and talk to Jill and Karin. In the past we have arranged to trade comps for partial pay.
