"Deemed 'provocative and waaayyy outside the box' cabaret/burlesque...achieving kind of a growing 'cult status' amongst a Boston audience interested in something unique and challenging."

AXE TO ICE PRODUCTIONS: A Brief Brief...
Axe To Ice Productions was created by the two cabaret-producing, gender-bending, clown-like character actors Karin Webb and Jill Gibson. Their mission is to create, support, and produce art that causes an audience to question and to think, to be struck in the moment, and to bring their experiences into action in their own communities. Axe To Ice strives to bring quality artists of diverse communities from all over the Boston area and beyond to the stage, to encourage a variety of POVs at each event, and to keep their audience's attention through experimentation in cross-genre performance.
The name "Axe To Ice" is distilled from a favorite quote from Kafka:
"Altogether, I think we ought to read only books that bite and sting us. If the book does not shake us awake like a blow to the skull, why bother reading it in the first place? So that it can make us happy, as you put it? Good God, we'd be just as happy if we had no books at all; books that make us happy we could, in a pinch, also write ourselves. What we need are books that hit us like a most painful misfortune, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, that make us feel as though we had been banished to the woods, far from any human presence, like a suicide. A book must be the ax for the frozen sea within us. That is what I believe.”
–By Franz Kafka To Oskar Pollak, January 27, 1904
